The gasket that came with this Cardone water pump i got is black paper and was installed and is looking wet when i look at it with a flashlight. I touched the gasket and it is squishy and it just squished down when i touch it idk whether i should replace my water pump along with that gasket just to be safe or should i just not touch it or what? I was thinking about doing another water pump with the Fel pro gasket which is blue and is permatex which is supposedly better. What do you think?

Well i heard that you dont need to put rtv on if the surface is perfect and not pitted at all i just think that gasket is cheap quality. I mean should it be squishy to the point that when i dry it off it loses its shape completely? it idk what to do i really would like to redo the water pump and do the fel pro gasket as well. It might have something to do with letting the car sit for a few days at a time (no more then 4 days though). I might just get it redone and do a new nissan fan clutch as well. I was thinking about doing a nismo cold thermostat as well is it worth doing? I just have a nissan oem one in there now.

New gasket and RTV. Don't get nuts with the RTV.

Go to Nissan dealership and get a tube of liquid gasket. It's very useful and that's what FSM says. Check FSM. It tells you where and how to apply it. I hope you are doing the thermostat too. It's cheap, so do them at the same time.

The mechanic i have do most of my stuff, said that you dont have to worry about what the outer part of the gasket looks like he said theres not much you could do to it to affect the torqued part of the gasket between the pump and the block. he said if it really bothered me the way it looked then i could just cut it with a razor blade.

Nissan doesn't list a water pump gasket for my Axxxess (ka24e) they RTV it from the factory and that's what I did on a recent w.p. [email protected] well just make sure it's cured before you put coolant in it.....

you dont need the gasket maker you can use the sealer, be careful cause the RTV tube and the Sealant tube are similar. If you do use the RTV dont use too much cause you dont want that crap getting in the cooling system. But yeah I think you mentioned replacing the gasket when you replace the water pump. Anytime you change a part that needs a gasket you replace the gasket as well.
