Ok, i am looking to install my carbonetic lsd finally and i got a couple questions. I am a fairly competent mechanic, i have done a couple motor swaps and other small projects, and i have a garage with a ton of tools as my disposal to do this LSD install. I was told a couple things but i want to get some thing firm, first off i was told i need to shim the diff prior to install than from other people i was told it drops right in just get the shims and make sure i reinsert them back in the orignal places. basically i want to know is it a drop in affair or do i need to do some crazy s*** to get it in. i also know my differential is very oily so i assume i have a small leak too, that i want to fix, can i just use maximum rtv when i reseal it ? I did research, and i dont mind kicking out the dough to get it done, but it seems soo simple that i could knock it out in a afternoon and do my sub frame spacers in the same evening. Any input ? or any in NJ with exp wanna give a hand, i will feed them and supply the beers !!

The differential didn't come with shims? Most of them do.

As for your leak, using quite a bit of 1 Minute RTV all around the ring will seal the diff quite nicely.

I would recommend putting Loc Tite on the ring and pinion bolts... You don't want those coming out like one of mine did. :X

If you like nissan has a grey RTV they carry at the dealership. I get it form work and let me tell you this stuff is wonderful. No idea how much it costs though.

Yeah you want it to be properly shimmed and be picky on getting the backlash correct. I got a price from Roots Factory for a Carbonetics installed in a spare housing... Price was like 150 for the install, not bad for peace of mind.
