I've been fooling around with fiberglass for a little while, but I'd like to start working with carbon. Anyone know what type of carbon sheet would be the best to buy, and especially, what type of resin would be good for creating a glossy, clear shine? Will fiberglass resin work? Any helpful hints/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I dabble with carbon fiber through FSAE at my college, i cant advise you on resins but glossy shines are created when there is pressure pressing the weave against its mold. For flat parts you can sandwich your piece between two pieces of lexan covered in release agent and pile weight on them. For curved pieces you'll need a good vacuum pump and some vacuum bagging skills.
