i have a friend in the body biz and he said the color might be close but it all depends (paint fades fast down south) personally i would paint it...i like everything to match...but most would want the world to see that the hood is carbon fiber.

It depends on the color really. The new Z1 at the Detroit Auto Show had carbon fiber on it with a blackish paint job, could barely tell it was there and it looked really nice. Probably the best I've ever seen CF integrated into a car. With black, you may be able to do it but what you could do is order it, put it on, see what you think and if you don't like it, take er in to be painted.

Welcome to Nicoclub! Hopefully you have been welcomed properly. Cheers on the G35! You'll find most people here are very helpful as long as you check the "search" button for previous threads.

I saw a blue corvette at Barrett Jackson this year with the CF accents and thought is was HOT! I think CF is a great technology that will certainly hold up to the elements and will last a long time. I'm kind of partial to "modest" modifications that give you some appeal but more performance. I like the "sleeper" look. I do enjoy some modifications but I think that CF is a little extreme... You don't want to outprice your class. I'd rather put my $$$ into mods that push me back in my seat rather than make me look cool. If I were you, I would NOT paint the CF... "Go big or stay home". It's all your call... if you want to go for the "fast and furious" look then go CF and show off, but make sure you have the Balls to back it up...

If you're truly a S.E.A.L then you have plenty of stories to show how much of a badass you truly are... you don't need a spicy car to prove that. Much love to the S.E.A.L.S as a close friend of mine is a S.E.A.L and I can only dream to be half the man that he is. GO NAVY! Keep us posted what you decide and please stay safe out there! We'll support your decision either way, but you have to live with it everyday!

On another note: How did you fare "Hell Week"? I've heard that it is the most grueling challenge that any human can experience. For those of you that have never seen "Hell Week"... I can only imaginge that this video is only a small peek at what our servicemen go through.

I do like CF, but I also agree that it should be one of the last things you do after you put some $$$ into the ballz of the car first. I'm a Ballz Out! kinda guy and also have a CF hood. here's a pic of mine : it's a Seibon TS

I like it alot, and pretty much the only downside is the vents. They are nice for getting heat out of the engine bay quickly, but it sux when it rains. You get water draining into your engine bay and some usually runs down onto the air filter. It's an open air / short ram so it's pretty much right under the driverside vents, but if you're gonna keep a stock intake or do a Z tube or something like that and keep your filter enclosed then it's all good, otherwise I'd say go with a CF OEM hood. .....But again, it's all about taste and what you like. You are the one that has to see it everyday! But IMO, CF on a black car is hawt!!!!!!!!!!

Also, if you do get it. Even it the manufacture (Seibon, VIS) whoever you use says it has UV protection....I'd go get it shot with a couple more clear coats and more UV protection on top of it, to protect from fading. Plus the extra clear coats makes it look that much more glossy and sexy!

Just a thought to all those looking for CF.

If you plan on painting it, get the manufacturer (only works with the small ones) to put the "ugly" weave on the surface too. The strength won't change and you'll probably save yourself some change.

There are a few popular weaves that they usually reserve for the surface layer and they use the "ugly" ones for structure below.
