OK, so I bought a used 2006 M35, Black. Paint looks pretty dang good for it being black and all. I am thinking about replacing the stock hood with a carbon fiber one. I don't want to repaint the hood though. Does anyone have first hand experience with the look of this?? Since the car is black I think that the carbon fiber will look good without repainting it. As always, thanks for the input!!

Other than the carbon fiber look is there any reason why you want to replace the hood? Its already aluminum and weighs about the same as a carbon fiber hood would.

Naa not really. The hood has some paint chip marks, and it annoys me. I wasn't going to go down the route of painting just the hood for fear of the tone being slightly different than the rest of the car. The stock hood is like $503, and the carbon fiber one is $550. i guess you answered my question right there. . ."carbon fiber look." I think it will look tight, but want to see one before I drop $550 on the new hood.

Why would someone do that to an M? I think it looks ridiculous. Just my opinion though. I know some people like it, just not my cup of tea.

One of the cars I've had in the past was a Black Civic SI. I had a CF hood on it and it looked black in some light. In others it looks grey. Just depends on the direction youre looking at the car and the direction in the weave of the CF.

ya y'all are probably right. If I had a white one it would never be considered. . .my car is black and I dont think the contrast would be very noticable. I still think it would look kinda silly!!
