Im purchasing a "vented" CF hood next month.

i only know of two avail. the Vis Terminator & Carbon Creations GT concept.(are their any other brands that make'em for the 08 a/c? please add to poll)

what is the diffrence between these? i mean they all look identical to me. For those in the know about these companies or hoods which is better??does price matter, i mean if its more expensive-is it better quality?

im new to CF so go easy guys.thanks for the help!

The people to talk too is Esp for the VIS. And Dangeris, Ricko, Surmam, or Rob.Vegan on the ED Hood!

Good Luck.

VIS is in Canada and so is the owner of it. ED is in California and the owners are throughout the US. Difference is one hood has three and the other four.

I have the ED one, and its pretty good, looks identical to the one ESP has, but i think Rob or someone on the "vented hoods in rain thread" stated that Esp's Vis carbon fiber hood has the under cover for the vented areas.

My guess would be if you see alot of rain, than the VIS would be the better one to go with?

The VIS hood has three louvers compared to the GT concept one by ED which has 4. ED also has a carbon fiber hood that is not louvered.

Raceonusa (Ricko's sponsor) also has his hood listed as their own even though it's identical to the Extreme Dimensions one. I'm not sure if it is the same or not but if you needed clarification you could call them or try and get ahold of Ricko.

According to ESP, the VIS hood does come with removable panels for the vents that will close them up, that is a plus if you are concerned but as I was told numerous times, although a lot of water does drip down, it won't be enough to hydrolock.

Extreme Dimensions GT Concept gets my vote

Sorry dude, but no...ViS Racing is a California company, just like Extreme Dimensions. I paid out my a$$ to get my hood shipped to me (although they gave me a pretty deep discount!). With shipping and the lovely "brokerage fee", I paid almost CAD$1200 for my hood. Definitely worth it though!

Because I think the look of four vents it too crowded and I don't mind paying the extra $$$ to get what I want. Funny thing is that up here in Canada, I don't know of too many folks with ED products. For whatever reason, the tuner shops up here seem to go for ViS and Seibon.

Rob nailed it.Yes, the ViS hood has the removable vent covers, but in all honesty I don't use them anymore. I purchased a HydroShield for my filter and haven't had any problems whatsoever (have always used 'em on my intakes too). As some of you know, I drove the AC down to SoCal for my honeymoon a few weeks ago. As the locals can attest to, we got some mighty rain down there. I drove from LA to San Diego and back again in the pouring rain and my filter was fine. In all honesty, I've never seen rain like that before and my coupe pulled through it okay with the vented hood.

Really and truly, it comes down to what you like the look of better and how much you can afford to drop on it.

Just call Raceonusa and let them know Ricko sent you. Extreme dimensions is perfectly fine and a little cheaper. Raceonusa Should be able to work with you. Just buy a Hydro shield like Esp said. I got one from autoanything. It is an injen cover but works fine on my K&N.

Here are some hood pins.

Hey I will let you know too if you are willing to be patient and wait but there will be another hood available real soon from AIT Racing and I should have a working prototype real soon (like in the next 3 weeks). It will be vented and nothing like anyone has seen before on our cars. I just thought I'd let you all know that and yes the hood is exactly the same between sedans and coupes.

And now im sponsored by ed and am getting the ed one cheaper......always ask around until u get the best price thats what i did n i saved like 500 if not more

This is 100% true. We do special pricing for NICO members. Feel free to contact me for quotes or if you have any questions. Also, all of our carbon fiber products are made with Grade A carbon fiber and carry an industry leading 1 year warranty against fading/cracking of the clearcoat.
