maybe...

gonna slam into something head on to find out how well the structural integrity is?:D

the sad thing is, idiots will get a hold of them and have their cars collapse like one of my sandcastles.

HPI racing of japan makes an excellent set of CF doors for the S13. A very similar set of doors can be seen on Ueno's SC300. I cant begin to testify to the quality of these products. But I doubt that CF doors in general are that dangerous. If I drifted on a daily basis I think I'd want as much security as possible.

the only problem with a carbon fiber door panel is the sharp little shards its gonna fracture into when you get into an accident.

flying carbon fiber + people = blood

i dont think many know their carbon fiber. carbon fiber is not brittle and it will not tear like fiberglass. below is a car that was rolled this past weekend with carbon fiber trunk, hood and fenders. Notice the carbon fiber parts didnt even budge.

Carbon fiber doesn't shatter or tear very easily. I had a little accident awhile back with a cf hood and it broke, but the fabric stayed together. The resin will crack, but the fabric is very strong.

i picked up two wrecked civics one time when i was still towing.

the hoods they had might have been cheap, because they shattered into pieces. ive never crashed a car with a CF hood, so i cant say for sure. i just remember thinking that i wouldnt want that stuff inside the car...

hey, if good CF holds up like the pic above, i might not be so biased against it. the one time i saw a CF hood crashed in person, it was in pieces. it also could have been the telephone pole the kid nailed dead on going about 50-60 mph. blood everywhere, his skull imprinted in the windshield...

how come someone hasn't taken like a sheet of aluminum and used a cf overlay wouldn't that be better then just straight cf? or would it be the same effect?

I am really sorry that you had to see that, and clean it up. You are definatly more of a man than me if you can deal with things like that and I thank you for that service, hopefully i'll never ever need it.

I know thats totaly OT, but i was going to attack you for what I quoted, then i read your subsequent posts. I definatly couldnt be an emt or a cop or a soldier. All those people have my respect.

towing is bad sometimes. we werent an average shop, we did the work for the city of white plains PD, and greenburg PD.

i had a 2001 Ford F450 wrecker with police badging, yellow/blue/red lights and a siren. i was usually the first on scene after the police. central avenue is white plains/greenburg/yonkers and is the place for street racing. some of these kids couldnt drive decently at the speed limit in the middle of the day, let alone race.

seeing someone dead in their car after a bad accident isnt something that leaves your mind too easily.
