People keep mentioning these in threads, but then when I ask directly about them, no one seems to know where to find them.

Figured it'd be an appropriate thing to ask about in our bright shiny new interiors forum

Anyway, what I'm specifically looking for are CF inserts for S14 (kouki, like it matters...) doors, where the cloth usually goes. I've seen entire inside door panels made of CF by Limited Magic, but those were like $900....so poop on that. My problem is that I have tan inserts, which I really don't like. If I can't get CF, just black cloth inserts would work too.

Any vendors able to help me out here?

There is now some carbon fiber vinyl available that could be glued right to the cloth inserts and tucked in around the edges. It is available by the yard (54" wide) for about $40.00. Let me know if you are interested.Best regards,Ron

I think I'll pass on that one, if I can't get real CF pieces then I'll just use black cloth, which'd be fine too.

How about dying my tan inserts black? I like the material, just not the color. Can you point me in the right direction for that sort of thing?

Good idea - There are several fabric dye sprays on the market that work well.

I have used them myself, as well as vinyl dye and leather dyes. Ron may even have the hookup on those items!

I figure the tan is a light color, so it should dye to black fairly easily.

oh yea, you could dye it easily...we dyed my friends blue interior black on his MR2. looks good, you can pick up a can of fabris dye at pep boys even... just make sure you apply it evenly.the only problem weve had was the vinal dye flaking off the steering wheel in the past year, but thats due to wear. a new wheels in the works anyway.

There are several dyes available at many auto parts stores. Try to get one that is specifically for fabric, as the vinyl dyes have a tendency to dry a bit stiff and then the cloth does not feel too soft anymore. I have used RIT as well as a water soluable carpet dye successfully. It is always a good idea to test a spot that doesn't show before committing to the entire job. Good luck. Let me know how it turns out.Best regards, Ron

How about gray suede so that you can have that factory 180sx panels look.

Hmm suede. I likey. I just like how it feels. Once I get enough money, I'll be looking to redo my entire interior probably in some sort of dark colored suede where the fabrics used to be.

Does anyone know anything about redo-ing headliners? Mine is sort of a gray but it's a bit dingy, I'd like to redo the entire thing in black, if I can make it look nice n' OEM-ish.

CF is actually a good idea. But since there's so much CF on my car its over kill. Im going suede, like the factory 180sx door panels. I'll match the door panels, glove box and the headliner....all gray suede

Bomex:

Should you actually end up reupholstering your doors, lemme know how it turns out and what you end up paying for it.

I do have a tiny rip on one of my door panels though, the vinyl. It's microscopic, and everyone who sees it tells me to stop complaining, but it still drives me nuts. I may end up just replacing the door card altogether.
