btw I got this from anohter forum never tried it but i want to...just thought id post it up for everyone

Theres really nothing to it. Just time.

Tools needed:

1- Carbon fiber cloth (Ebay- $30 an up)2- Fiber glass resin ($21 an up -Autozone)3- Super glue( $1- Dollar store)4- Cutting shears5- some sort of scrapper (puddy knife)6- some sort of cardboard to work on7- Plastic Dish8- sandpaper high Grit (800, 1000, 1500, an 2000, grit)9- Krylon UV protected spray ($8+ shipping -Online, Autozone, Walmart)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------First Get you Carbon fiber Cloth...

The cut about 2in bigger the then the peice peice you working with...

Then Get your super glue and spread it over the top of the piece an lay the carbon fiber over the top. Make sure its flat an smooth when you do this. Also make sure you super glue the edge an any curves so it looks clean at the end.

Now that it is wrapped an pretty much stuck on there, get your resin...

Mix it the way it says in to a plastic dish. The dump a small amount in the middle of the object. Spread it evenly an slow motion(u dont want bubbles) into the carbon. about 1hr before the resin cures put another coat on. If you do only one coat, you can still feel the carbon threw the resin...

Now after you let it sit an cured for the for how ever long it says. wet sand it smooth i would use 600, 800, 1500, and 2000 grit sandpaper so its really glossy. Dont sand it to the carbon fiber. If you a little wary about doing this, spray some clear to fill in the small bumps.,then sand, Repeat this process until it smooth. clean very well with hot water...

Last step is to use some Krylon UV spray, only if dont use UV protect resin. if you did you can use just normal clear coat. Put a few coats of this spray an wet sand it 800, 1000, 1500, and 2000. Then clean with hot water and buff/polish...

and your finished product...Reinstall and enjoy...

If you are just going to be covering pieces, don't waste your time or money on actual carbon fiber. Just buy carbon fiber style vinyl overlay.

some vinyl overlays are created in a very similar fashion... so this isn't a bad idea... hopwever, there are some pieces or parts of the car that folks may want to have CF that no one makes in carbon fiber...

i.e. the engine cover, or maybe the fiberglass eyelids... so for them, this is is a very useful DIY...

thanks for the DIY dom_cull... now go get your custom title!

Thought the same thing However unless we are switching some large body panels with carbon fiber there isn't much weight savings to go one anyway. Look how many people got the hoods, and those might be a bit heavier, it's just aesthetic appeal.

Why not keep OEM fitment and have a real carbon fiber overlay, I would do this definitely. Just for the little odds and ends to tie my car together (when I get the trunk and rear window spoiler). Nice idea and simple instructions, let's hope that the super glue won't give out in hot or cold weather and leave it all ugly.

the super glue wont matter its just to hold the cf in place while you do the resin...some people use double sided tape instead of super glue.

LOL... technically, yes it is mine, but the wife drives it 100% of the time...

but yeah Phenom, I remember someone posting a pic of the carbon fiber engine cover for the 2.5, but nothing like that exists for the 3.5 yet.... someone should start doing that, and make some money... I'm sure it will sell... if not here, on ebay!

I hate the AIT one for the 2.5...it's just flat on top! It needs some contour and shape like the stock one. If someone wrapped the 3.5 engine cover, that sucker would sell like hotcakes.

Does our diffuser separate from the bumper? I'd love to do this. Great write-up.

AFAIK it does not. That being said, you could easily enough create a CF "cap" for it (much like others have done for their roof). Just make sure you use come really good super glue!

If you do the Siddhartha, be sure to tape off the rest of the rear end, then tape foul atoms the outer rim. The resin can't penitrate the foil. So u don't mess up your rear end. Resin tends to go all over the place. And would easily mess up your ride.

No "tough guy" involved in my post. Just pointing out that there' s a cheaper alternative if you don't need the strength/weight of CF and only want it for the cosmetic aspect.
