okay, so I was looking at my carbon canister and notice it has 4 lines coming from it and most people only seem to know where 2 of them go. So I was thinking I would just remove it but while searching and trying to find more info I came across a Z forum post where the guy had deleted his, then made a new one, only this new one looks a lot better, isn't in the way of anything, and it a much simpler setup(2 lines).

So I though I'd just copy his setup, which is use a stainless water bottle, make 2 ports in it and connect one to the hardline going to the gas tank and the other to the intake mani(as per the write up). Then it hit me: I bet the extra lines on mine are to control some type of valve so the boost in the manifold doesn't pressurize the gas tank....

I still want to change the can to the new one, as this can is good for the environment and doesn't effect performance(as long as I can move it that is). I could rig up a new mount or something for the stock one but I really like the idea of a stainless can with new carbon in it also.

So heres the question; am I right about the extra lines being for valve control to not pressurize the gas tank, and if so couldn't I just use a one-way valve(like a pcv valve) between the can and the manifold to make it work? I was also thinking I could hook it up to the intake before the turbo as that always has vacuum, but running gas fumes through the turbo might not be a good idea.

Sounds like a cool idea, I just have one line going into it from the gas tank which is the hardline that goes along the fram on the drivers side of the motor. As long as you have that one going in you are fine since that one has all the fuel tank vapors going through it. Ive thought about relocating my carbon canister somewhere or trying to make a smaller one.

I just dont want fuel vapors going out into the engine bay or anywhere, id rather them get destroyed in the carbon canister just to be safe.
