Hello Everyone,
I realize that there are a few posts in regards to this topic, but, for whatever reason, I am still having problems understanding EXACTLY what it is that I need to do in order to remove my carbon canister. Hopefully, with your help, other people will be able to use this information as well............
I added the scans below from my FSM in order to help describe my problems. I think that I will start with what I know. By the way, I am dealing with a 91 DOHC motor. I don't know if this is different for the SOHC version:
There are FOUR lines leading into and out of the canister itself:
1. Vacuum line2. Purge line3. Vapor line4. Unknown line coming out of the canister bottom and into........frame?
I am under the impression that if I remove the canister, I will need to leave the Vapor line (coming from the gas tank) open to the atmosphere and NOT CAPPED OFF. The Purge line which runs to the intake manifold will get capped off (right?).
What do I do with the Vacuum line that eventually runs to that mess of lines by the EGR unit and that untitled line that runs out of the bottom of the canister?
If someone could please clarify these points, I would be very grateful. Lastly, does removing the canister have any adverse effect aside from the potential atmospheric destruction?
THANKS!!!
