so i finally got my truck registered, started it up for the first time in a few weeks, and sure enough, it looks like im leaking gas from the carb. im a newbie when it comes to working on vehicles, so im not sure if just replacing the carb would fix the problem. (leaking gasket??)  i planned on upgrading to a weber carb anyway, but is there anything i should check or do before i go out and buy a new carb?  any suggestions??? tips? pointers?

it was a fuel line between the carb and the motor, someone had cut it short, down to about 2 inches, and held it down with hose clamps.  it split right at the hose clamp.  truck feels like NEW now.  i think it may have been a problem since i bought it.  +1 for  the newbie!
