hey what's up my 1997 maxima wont start on the first try, n sometimes it will just turn on right away after the first try.... like i gave the car a tune-up and all when i first got it, my only signs im guessing are that it's the STARTER or BATTERY... like the battery isn't from that car, can that have an affect too... or does that not matter .... also like is their anything u can do to test the starter to see if its damaged......

ALSO WHAT KIND AND WHERE CAN I GET A DECENT STARTER...NOT EXPENSIVE....THANKS PM ME

Do your lights dim when your interior light dim signficantly when you start your car?

That would be a good indication of a bad battery.

i had that problem on my i30. here's what i did - Take the plastic off from around the steering wheel where the ignition is. when you get it off, look on the opposite side of there you put the key into the ignition, there should be a white piece held on by two screws with wires soldered to it. take the screws out and take the part out. there shoudl be a female T slot on the inside, if it is worn, the car won't start everytime. buy a new one and you should be fine...i got mine for like $40
