I just bought a 1990 300zx Twin Turbo 2+0. The previous owner had the car sitting at his in laws when pack rats chewed through it and instead of paying 1.5k to get it fixed at the dealer, let it sit. Long story short, it sat for 3 years and is now in my garage. The car currently runs on 5 Cylinders(gotta figure out the wiring for one cylinder) and doesnt hold any boost(Gotta redo all the vacuum hoses). The issue with me figuring this out is that the car is almost out of gas and when i try to fill it up, it just spits the gas back up. My first thought is maybe the hose had a kink in it, but i inspected the hose and found nothing. I then thought maybe because it has sat for a long time It has some blockage, but would that make any sense? These filler hoses are pretty wide and unless an animal crawled in there and died(which I doubt) or maybe someone can verify this for me if there is a screen in the filler hose that might have rusted up and gotten clogged. Other than that I don't realistically see it getting clogged. Does anyone have any Ideas on where I should start? If you think I should take off the filler hose how do I disconnect the hose from the body where you fill it up with gas?
Thanks guys, I appreciate any help
Dave

Don't take this the wrong way... are you sure it's out of gas? Make sure it isn't just a faulty gauge. I am almost certain there is no screen in the neck. I don't think and evap problem would cause anything like this... good question guy.

No offense taken, I thought the same thing. The guy I bought it from replaced the fuel pump and I asked him if he remembered how much gas was in there and he said very little. I'll probably try to go in through the gas tank by the pump and see if I can visually see anything. Thanks for the reply

My C4 Vette had the same problem, would only take $20 worth of gas before it bubbled back up, the problem was that the fuel pressure sensor was dead as a doorknob. Leading to the fuel gauge not working properly either.

Thanks for all the input guys. I looked inside the fuel tank and it was essentially empty but I did notice a plastic flipper valve? that had a rubber housing that was on the end of the filler tube inside of the gas tank. Basically it allows gas in but not out. I kinda played with it a little and knocked it loose and took some gas home and tried to fill the car up and it worked. So as it stands now and what I hope had happened is the old gas had kinda solidified and "glued" that flipper valve thing shut. Only time will tell though.
