Car wont stay running

89 ka24e......When i got to start it for the first time of the day or after it has sat for a few hours ill go to start it, it starts runs for a few seconds then dies. this will happen 5 or 6 times before it decides to stay running the when it does stay running it kinda stumbles a little bit at idle. Any ideas???

Do you have any engine check lights?
I'd check for error codes at the ECU first.

I checked the codes a few weeks ago and got a vss. my speedo dont work. oh and no cel either

Once it gets to operating temp its fine. like nothings wrong with it at all.....

So basicly this problem started when i changed my fuel filter. So here come the dumb question...could i of installed my filter upside down? Anyone have a pic of fuel filter that is installed correct? And no there is no arrow or anything on my filter that says this side up or w/e.

The flat part of the filter should be the top.
