so heres my issue. i bought the car 2 years ago not running. i junked the old engine and put in a rebuilt one. i also did a 5 speed swap(used 5 speed harness) . ive replaced the fuel filter and pump, the engine is getting fuel, but the car will not run. It says in the transmission swap thread that i do not need the manual ecu. other than my injectors what could be my problem?

You need three things to start an engine:

Fuel (which you say you have)

Spark

Timing

Check for spark and make sure the plug wires are on in the right order (1,3,4,2).

Rotate the distributor until the engine starts and runs smoothly. If you can't find a point where the engine runs smoothly, your may have installed the distributor incorrectly.

Well it could be an idle air control problem. If spark and timing are OK, open the throttle a little and try to start it.

well apparently the two fuel lines going into the fuel rail where on wrong and needed to be switched. so i did that, and then it wouldnt start at all. so if someone could verify, the line with the fuel filter goes in the end of the fuel rail w/o the regulator, right?

and this is the sohc btw, if it matters.

Your statement doesn't make sense. From your first post, you said the car never ran. Now you're saying when you switched the fuel lines, it won't start. Which is it?

BTW, the supply line from the fuel filter goes to the front of the fuel rail. The FPR bolts on to the rail in the back and the fuel return line connects to it.
