arg this is the most headache part of the swap. Anyways, i tried starting up the car but it wouldnt hold a idle, when i hold on to the gas, the car would rev. But if i let go of the throttle, the car would slowly die. But there's also a loud whine coming from the alternator side, possibly the alternator, most likely the alternator. maybe i need to tighten the belt?

here's a video of the sound.

But either way the car wouldnt hold idle =\

PS> does anyone know what hose to use for the turbo oil return? I had to clock the turbo slightly to fit the taka oil lines but now the oil return line doesnt line up well with the bung on the oil pan.

The noise sounds as if a belt is rubbing against something else. What you can do to debug such a problem is to disconnect your ps pump belt and start the car and see if the noise is still there, if it is, then disconnect your alternator belt and also see if the noise is gone.

Regarding the idle issue, get some clean gas and drive the car for couple of hours, chances that it will impove after driving for a bit, due to all that junk that is stuch inside the engine as most like the engine sat for a quite a bit of time before you got it.

You can remove yoru A.C.C selonid and clean it as it will cause the car to idle like **** if it is dirty.Do an ecu diagnostics to see what codes it spits out and take the car for a spin to get the engine warmed up in order to clean all the junk iside.

Good luck,

Have you done a compression test on it? If so what are the results. That's what mine sounded like. I would have to hold the gas just to keep it going. If I let off, it would die. I never did a compression test on it when I got the motorset. So I did a compression test on it and two cylinders had no compression. So I pulled off the head and some of the valves were bent. That's why my motor was sounding like that. Yours could be something different.

i didnt do a compression test. My neighbor who's a mechanic changed the piston rings for me and changed the headgasket. I had some valve stem seals installed and had the head dipped in hot oil(?), basicly cleaned.

Would the engine temperature sensor have anything to do with this? Maybe i plugged in the wrong plug or its failing.

humm your engine sound like running on 3 cylinders...

for the sound its look like the alternator but you'll need to verify.. is it turning freely or there a big resistance when you turn it by hand ?
