I just joined the forum but i have never really had any questions until now.

I bought a 1992 240SX SE about 1-2 months ago. the body says 272k miles on it, but is in really good condition. The older owner tells me that the motor in it is a 1995 KA24de. also i was reading something and i dont know if it helps any but my distro. cap has 5 wires.

On to my problem. When my motor is hot and i cut the car off, it will not start back up until it has cooled down. Also i replaced the master and slave clutch cylinders and now when i hit the gas in gear, the car will slip, and rev instead of putting the power to the transmission. anothing thing is when im sitting at idle, and i hit the gas a small amount, the car sounds and the RPM gauge shows that the car wants to fall flat on its face. the RPMS drop, and then go up.

Im really looking foward to driving this car. and hooking it up, but im new to the nissan seen, so i would like all the help that i can get.

So far i have checked the timing, and it was about 10 BTDC off so i set it back to 20 BTDC.

ThanksGrizeg.

the rpm dropping before going up has been covered on here multiple times, as for the starting issue, do you mean when the car is at operating temperature (needle right squa in da middle) or when the car is "hot" (ie: needle above the middle) if thats the case i think the ecu might be programmed to not let the car start when it is overheated as this happened to me once. i am not 110% on this tho, so right or wrong, someone back me up or correct me plz.

you might need a new solenoid. Solenoids are heat sensitive, when they get old, they get worse. you need to replace you starter solenoid, that should fix your startin problem.

the dist cap is supposed to have 5 wires, 4 to the cyl and one to the coil. and your clutch is going out. their probably is not much meat on your clutch disc.

exactly. 4 spark plug wires, 1 coil wire. Whenever you accelerate and your rpms shoot up and your speedometer pretty much stays in the same spot that is your clutch going bad. now..when you car does not start when the engine is warm/hot this is because you have a bad temperature sensor. when your engine is warm the sensor tells the ecu to not put as much fuel in because its not needed like it would be with a cold engine. however when the sensor goes bad it does not detect the warm/hot engine temperatures therefore the ecu tells the injectors to put in as much fuel as needed for a cold engine start therefore flooding the engine because its actually warm.

-notices everyone has missed something- is your engine turning over and just not starting? or is the starter not engaging? either which way the two fellas up above have answered your questions.

ya i know nobody asked that..i didnt ask it because i know it is turning over and getting spark and getting fuel..too much fuel..i didnt ask because i know the problem is the temp sensor. the only other thing that would cause this is the wrong stage of spark plugs but he didnt mention that he changed his plugs and then this started happening. someone above said the ecu was not tuned for the car to start when warm? never heard of that before..dont know why a ecu would be tuned for the engine to not start when warm

u hear clicking noise when u try to start? and the engine is hot. let say like 40 mintues trip. if that the case then u need to get a new relay. its blue. its in the hood near the battery. i forgot what it call. probably starter relay or clutch relay something like that.
