Yes, this is a pretty typical. The quickest I've heard of an alarm draining a battery was in 14 days. I'd be cautious about using any type of remote start especially if I'm away from home. Rarely do they fail, but when they do and things go wrong, you could come home to a huge mess. A small switching battery charger would suffice. Take the battery out, put it in a safe ventilated place, and let it trickle charge. The added benefit, you don't have to worry about someone driving off with you car. That is unless the thief was smart enough to bring spare batteries.
