My 240 has been sitting in storage for the last 2-3 weeks, today i went down to start it up and take it for a ride since the snow is melting etc. And it wont start. My father seems to think something is draining the battery but were not too sure? Why would the battery just not start? its brand new, got it a month ago tops, and has barely been used. Im sure it wont be any trouble to get it going besides a boost, my only concern is this happening to me when im out and being stranded. Any suggestions to what the problem could be if there really is one to be concerned about? thanks.

charge you battery, then, use a test light, disconnect negative cable off battery and use the test light to complete ground. if you have a drain while the car is off, the light will light up. if that happens, pull fuses until you have determined with circuit it is, then back track from there.

Modern cars ie cars with computers in them, radios with presets, clock, etc CAN NOT SIT FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME WITHOUT THE BATTERY GOING DEAD! You must use a Battery Tender Plus or similar item to constantly charge/monitor the battery. Once the battery is dead (below 10.5V) it will never, ever come back to full strength AND if you try to jump start the car and then charge a dead battery with the alternator, you may expect to purchase a new alternator soon. If you want to park a car and not use a charger 24/7, then unhook the battery. Batteries are not magic and ALL batteries will run dead when connected to the car and not used on a regular basis.

check your starter too...

for a while there my starter would just not want to work, and so id have to bust out the trusty lug wrench and whack the side of the starter a couple times and then it would start... havent had that issue in quite a while though...just a thought. but yeah if its been sitting for a while and now wont start, and you have determined the starter isnt the problem, then you most likely have some parasitic loss going on, open circuits, whatever else. bad grounds maybe?

Im pretty sure its not that starter. My audio system turns on when the car is off, and it didnt turn on. So its definitly the battrey. Not only that but a few days before i went to check it and it didnt work, i turned it on just fine, about 4-5 days before it didnt work. So i doubt its the starter.

Its always a smart idea to disconnect negative cable from battery when you are going to store your car for a long period of time.

Quick question, my father seems to always think the worst, but he thinks something is wrong with the alternator or something bla bla bla. So just real quick can the battery naturally with a drain get drained in as little as 5-7 days. Or just it usually take more then a week?

get a voltage meter.. comes in handy and it will be a good arsenal in your tool box vs the wiring gremlins! Also u can take batter yup to auto zone and a few other places and they will check your battery for free to see if its messed up
