Hey, my car wont start.. It was running just fine today was I dropped it off at the audio place for installed on speakers and a head unit.. I drove it home.. drove it to work.. and then when I tried to leave, it wouldnt start.. turned the ignition.. no sound.. everything came on.. but no cranking and no clicking from the starter. I was able to push start it by rolling it, and the popping the clutch.. got it home, and tried again with regular starting.. nothing..

I then hit the starter with a hammer and tried turning it on and did this a few times.. nothing.. i dont know what it could be..

checked battery or alternator?Got to autozone/napa they will check for free.Make sure you park your car where you can push start if need be.Check your grounds and your battery connection.I fought with my car's battery connection for 3months.Before I went and got new connectors.

try swapping the starter if you or a buddy have one laying around. i know you already said it wasnt the problem but it really seems to be pointing in that direction. a lot of stuff can go wrong with starters, and even if its new ive seen them come bad out of the box.

the battery is staying charged so its not the alternator. plus the alternator is part of the charging system anyway. the car ran fine before. no cranking, and no clicking from the starter, then you roll start it and it drives fine? thats definately pointing to the starter in my head. good luck.

have you tried jump starting it to make sure it is not the battery? next, disconnect connector at starter and test for 12 volts to engine ground with key turned to start and clutch down.

can someone tell me what fuses to look for, i looked in the kick panel fuse area but i couldnt figure out what fuses it was i was supposed to be looking for.. i recently cleaned all the conections to and from the starter so my last thing before i unbolt the starter to get it tested would be fuses

Did you get an amp hooked up? Might be hard wired, meaning its on at all times. Check your battery, it sounds like the culprit.

check the clutch safety switch.... its no coincidence this happened after they installed your ****, I'd take it back there and make them chase their electrical gremlins.

it might not even be from the stereo install at all. i would check to make sure you're getting fuel and spark first. your fuel pump might have gone out.

His car isn't even cranking so neither fuel nor spark is the issue right now.

Okay first off Seva is right. The starter isn't cranking over so the fuel and spark isn't the prob. make sure you have a good battery (does your stereo work r your dome light.) If it doesn't then that could be the problem replace battery if so. Next off I know you said its not the starter but im betting it is. Mine went out not two days ago it just flat went out no extra week or two of life be tapping on it with a hammer it just stopped. If you dont wanna go through the hassle of replacing the starter then test it. Idr how but its somewhere on the web site. trust me its the starter.

He did have a bum starter, I told him the hitting it trick and that allowed it to kind of work--so he replaced the starter.

yes, i replaced the starter a while ago and that fixed it, but its back, and worse since there isnt a clicking this time. I got the battery tested today and it was good, basically brand new like i said. and yes all my lights and stereo turn on so its not the battery, may be the cables runing from the battery to the starter..

blake, i called zach and he recommended that since i need this car to be running fairly soon that i just take it to a shop (Accurate Tune Plus).. so im getting it towed by AAA to there.. ill prolly just have them diagnose it and then fix it my self

almost positive its the starter still. i'd reccommend getting it tested or replaced ASAP. expecially since it fixed the problem last time, but then crapped out again. just because its new doesnt mean it cant be bad. anyways good luck with the car.

as i said disconnect connector a foot from starter and see if 12 volts is there. a very simple test. if you have 12 volts between connector and ground, you know all the fuses and relays wires are good. you can get digital multimeters for 20 bucks. next would be hooking starter directly to battery.

Typical problem. Get a multimeter. It would have told you you are not getting 12 volts to starter.
