Ok so i picked up a 1991 Nissan 240sx Coupe about a week ago. I drove it back to my house (trip was 87miles) it drove fine and everything, since then i started the car up every so often and it was fine. Started up perfect but now it wont start. I turn the key once, it clicks and then nothing wont start. I thought it was the battery so i changed the battery with the one in my Focus and still nothing. All the dash lights still work, headlights work, blinkers work but the motor wont start. it doesnt even try to. Anyone have any idea what it could be?

Several things to check:

- Battery cable connections; in particular, corrosion.- Starter solenoid may be bad.- Check fuse.- Clutch interlock switch may be bad.- Interlock relay may be bad.- Check ignition switch.

Have you been messing with anything under the hood before this happened? In the fuse box on the intake mani side under the hood, check the 75a fuse labeled FL75A/Altits in the top left corner.

Im running into the same problem too with my 89 hatch

Everything gets power...headlights, radio, etc....battery is good.

BUT, when i try to start the car and there's nothing, not even a click sound...I tried jump starting it this morning, that didn't work either

Everything like the fuses and wires and grounds look good too...also it'll start if i pop clutch it though.

Sorry for the threadjack...but i figured i might as well posted this in here instead of making a new thread.

Edit: I have a feeling its more than likely the starter solenoid or something. Also right before it went dead, i noticed that it was cranking over very slowly too

Try running a jumper wire where the starter relay plugs in. That should let you know if it's the relay or possibly the clutch interlock switch

Check for grounds. My car did the same thing after my swap and then I started looking and my ground wire for my battery tray wasnt bolted on. I hope you figure out the problem man! and I want pics of this coupe you picked up!

id try a new ecu, my 240 was the same after my swap i wasnt getting fuel and i wasnt getting a spark from the coil so we swapped ecus and it worked fine, before you do that id remove one of the fuel lines then turn the key over and see if gas shoots out, if it doesnt hard wire your fuel lines and see if that works, if it does and it still wont start, check to see if your coil is getting spark, if its not its a good chance your ecu burned out.

hit up the junkyard those fuses dont go bad usually and should be easy to come by and quite cheep, good quick fix while you wait on a new one.
