Hey fellas, I have a 92 240 with a KA24DE. My car was starting to show symtoms of the EGR going out so I decided to just take out the system instead of buying a new EGR. My car was starting just fine befor I yanked out the system but now after I pulled it and seeled it up, my fuel pump wont prime when I turn the key. I checked the fuse and its good I bought a new relay and that wasnt it, then I tryed jumping the 1&2 post on the relay. When I did that the fule pump would prime but the car still wouldnt start, it still acted like it had no fule presure and it made a loud buzzing noise at the relay (I dont know if the buzzing is normal when you jump the post). I have a walbro high flow fuel pump and a megan fuel presure regulator, both were put in about two years ago. So my question is, did taking out the EGR system affect the fuel pump at all or is it just my stupid luck that the fuel pump is dead. Or dose any one know what might be going on cause Im completly lost. Any help would be much apritiated.

the EGR definitely should have nothing to do with the fuel pump.
what were the symptoms that made you think the EGR was going out?

Check the wiring harness grounds around the egr valve and tube area.

What you need to do is hunt down a friend / or stop someone who has a 240sx and will let you swap their ECU to test yours. I had a very similar problem when my #28 ecu burned out, I was jumping the relay to get power to the fuel pump but the car would just crank and not fire. if I remember right It wasn't getting power to the distributor either, untill I replaced the green relay with a blue one ( although they're the same), But it still took another NICO member to want to swap his ecu for me to find out that was the problem , I would prolly still be guessing. Hope this helps

The sighns that the egr was going were no low end power and it hesitated when I was on the freeway and flored it. I was half right about the egr, it was the hose in between the egr and the egr controle that had a hole in it, I didnt see that untill I got the system out.
And I was wondering if the blue relay fixed your problem or if you had to replace your ecu, cause I got one of the blue ones when I replaced mine, and its still not working.

you didn't hook up all your grounds and the ecu isn't grounding. should be one on the front of the intake manifold by the throttle body. i had the same happen when i did my swap and pissed around for about 2 days before figuring it out.

When I pulled the EGR, I did it without removing the intake manifold. So I looked for grounds or any other thing that was not connected around where the EGR was and Im not seeing anything.

have you checked to make sure your getting spark, if the ecu is not turning on you wont get either.

Ok sorry for the late responce, Im not living where my car and computer are right now. I just checked for spark and there is none. So frome my understanding of what you guys said, its eather a groun thats not hooked up or the ECU needs to be replaced right? But I cant fined any grounds that are disconnected so Ill probably be buying an ECU. If there any other thoughts let me know, if not Ill let you know if a new ECU fixes the issue. Thanks for your help.

i seriously doubt that you took off the egr and it fried your ecu. check out how to read the ecu codes in the factory service manual. if your ecu is not powering up the ecu light wont come on. if the ecu wont turn on get a pinout for the ecu and test the harness with a multimeter. im still going with disconnected ground, there are three that i know of on the ecu harness connected to the head. one goes on the front of the intake manifold and should be a single wire, the other two connect to the head above the exhaust manifold right near the firewall. the last two are probably the ones that your having problems with as they are near the egr tube. oh and i dont mean the ground strap on the head to the firewall, but you should have that too.
