300zx wont idle with the maf connected

Im doing a favor for a buddy with his problem.
He has a 93 z32 non turbo engine that he swaped out of a runing car and swapped into to a dfferent chassie. We went to start it and starts bugs out and dies. So I start it again and this time I unplug the MAF, then it runs fine. I ran it then for like 40 mins checked everything and bled the cooling system. I checked a known to work MAF and does the same thing!? I also sprayed brake cleaner over the vacum lines and didnt see and idle change. We both are new to the z32 game and really could use your help.
If you guys have anything to share please do, anything will be appreciated.

did you bother to check the ecu for codes? could be a bad mas or I believe the tps can cause similar issues

well i know the MAF is good cause we tried a different one, and there is no check engine on but no i didnt scan it for codes.
