car wont run...

ok, i think ive had more than my fair share of problems, but heres the newest one...sigh...ok, yesterday my car ran fine, i got it to idle and run fine, and i turned it off after letting it run for about a minute and a half (had to prove to some people that my car actually ran) then, this morning, i got it registered and got a tag, and i tried to start it and drive it to a friend's house, and it flooded and wouldnt fire. it fires when you dry of the plugs and rest them on the head, so it isnt electrical, i think. i have no idea whats wrong, and i want to drive my car, because it has been sitting since late october(when i got it, since then its been worked on, and getting a new engine dropped in). i think it has something to do with fuel delivery, but im open to even the most ridiculous explanations. thanks, tim

I just had the same problem after an engine change a few days ago(car won't start). Fuel was there, sparks also.In this case it was the alternator belt that was a bit loose(just had to turn the adjusment screw only a quarter turn). The engine stood as a spare one in my garage for a few months and it looks like the deflection of the alternator belt exeeded it's limit during storage.

Judging from those syptoms I would be seriously looking at the water temperature sensor. It is notorious for playing up problems like that as I 've been down that road too many times and it was always the culprit.

its wierd, i tried it sunday, and it fired up and ran first crank. i have no idea what happened. also, i wired up my ghetto canister thing and it runs great (except for my turbo, which sounds like something dying a cruel death) ill check those things though, and thanks again for the help, i really appreciate it

It sounds like it was flooded, if it does it again just pull the fuel pump fuse and turn the engine over a bit.
