Its a 95 nissan 240sx, we just completely rebuilt the motor and slapped a turbo on it. The car is idling fine, and runs great the problem is that it wont rev past 3 grand. I brought home a consult from nissan and it said all my sensors were bad which is almost impossible. The timing is right on and we dont know anything else as to what could be wrong. The ecu is running in safe mode and we cant get it to come out of that mode. The last thing I can think of is to get another ecu. Anyone have any suggestions???

Still running the stock maf? This might account for your problem. When the maf is maxed out, not plugged in, or the wiring isn't completely correct, it will only let your car rev to about 2500-3000. This might be where you want to start looking.

It's probably the MAF or O2 sensor.

well the wiring harness was cut a while back when someone stole my intake system. I just got the clip to the mass air flow sensor today and the wires that came off of it. I soldered them in and started up the car and now the car will not rev at all. I can manually open the throttle body and it does nothing, except maybe sometimes bog down. And I got a used MAF...

How does the car run with the MAF unplugged? If it runs as "good" as your original post, you have a MAF problem. Being that you wired the unit, it could be wired wrong, or the solder joints aren't good enough. It could also be a totally bad MAF. A bad MAF can make a car run really screwy, unplug it and it will run like a dream to 3k. Best thing to do is verify your wiring of the plug to make sure it is correct. Then use a test known working MAF. If the working MAF makes the car flip out, it is still a MAF problem, but the problem probably still is the wiring. On most Nissans, the only time a car goes into limp home/safe mode, it is the MAF sensor. An oxygen sensor will not cause this. Being that I work at Nissan, the consult I/II on any vehicle made before 10/95 (production date) will read a bit off, especially DTC's. The best way to read the DTC's off your car will probably be by counting the nice red LED built into the side of your ECU. This light knows all. Since your car is in limp home mode, it will most likely be something with the MAF.

an o2 sensor will not cause your situation. The culprit is in the MAFS or in the wiring. Follow ItzGenX's suggestion.
