Dude, sounds to me like you have a massive vacuum leak. Take some ether (starting fluid) and spray arond the gaskets for the intake and all other connections for the intake. If, while a lower but constant rpm, the rpms rise, this shows a lean condition which would be your vacuum leak. Move the spray around the area when the rpms rise and issolate where the gasket/connection leak is.
