I Have an S14 with a redtop on it

Symptoms:
When turning the keys in the ignition to start up the car it wont start. You here a click sound on the starter but it wont even crank;lights on the dashboard doesnt go anywere (like if you have a bad batt.)

Things I have tried:
1-When I have the keys on the on position and the car doesnt start up, I leave the key on that position and I shake the keys up and down and in circles to c if there was a bad conection or something that is not doing contact inside the ignition switch.
2-I took my car to Advance Auto Parts and they checked 4 me the starter, batt, crack power, alternator, and other stuff and everything is normal including battery.
3- Not to long ago I had to re-wired my harness because (Carisma- Specialist on 240sx here in F.L) notice that (f@&0ts over @ Delirium Motorsports) direct-wired everything on my car.

*** I already replace the ignition switch and still having this issue ***

could it be maybe... the Turbo Timer?? I have installed for about 4 months. Any inout guys will be appreciate it. Thanks

.

Its becoming more and more common. Two things to look at are the start signal relay (manual), or the ignition tumbler. Happened to me often, it was the tumbler, I cleaned the contacts and its been good since, voltage was dropping from 12.3 to 6.2 through the dirty contacts

also remove your battery and look behind it. there is a relay there replace it from NISSAN not autozone or kragen. My car did this the entire time on the dyno. changed a few starters to no effect. went out to my coupe and swapped them out and started perfectly. went to nissan and got a new one. They told me it was one of there most replaced parts

My friend that works on 240's (sucks he moved 3hrs away from me) told me the same thing. That it could be the starter relay. He told me that is mounted to the side under the car, under the fender in the engine bay lol. So what is it? buy a new relay will fix the problem?

My car was automatic tho. You think I have that relay after I did Sr20det (redtop) Swap? I have an S14.

Is there anyway you could get that relay part #?

It might also be called an interlock relay?

Don't forget to check your battery cable clamps. I've had the exact same symptoms in the past, and it was corrosion on both the terminal clamps.

Thanks alot guys 4 all the replies. I havent change that relay yet but Ima try something else before replacing that relay. Ima unplug the turbo timer and put everything the way it was before to see if it will stop the problem. If it will still w/ the same issue I know that is that relay. any idea how much would it cost? and if its hard to put it in?

You mean the relay? Its simple, just remove the battery and it will be inside the passenger fender. Mine wasnt even bolted to anything. Theres just two plugs that plug into it. They cost around $23 from a Nissan dealership. :bigthumb:

ight, going back to this old post. The problem was the actual signal cable that connects to the starter. What happened was that when I got redtop installed, they left the old KA plug where the signal cable should come from, and then they put a flat little piece of metal hooked up onto a speaker cable inside the KA signal plug and tapped it all around and the other end of that speaker cable onto the starter.

pretty much its wasnt doing a good contact & all which caused to fried my starter solinoid. Took it to Carims LLC here in Orlando and got that crap fixed.thanks Chris! you r the man! lol
