Car won't turn right. NOT A 240

Hey this is a question concerning my 87 Prelude (FWS). My brother was driving it around the other day and all of a sudden the car stopped turning right!!! The steering wheel turns, but not the wheels. It sounds like the gears are shot, i checked the manual and it doesn't help (damn Hayes!!!) all i figured from the book is that it's the steering gear, is that the same as the rack and pinion? The steering system seems to be similar to the 240, so if anyone has any input i would be greatful.Thanks
