Hi All:
It's been quite a awhile since I posted anything on here, but my most recent issue has me puzzled. I have a 1998 Q base model with about 130K on the odometer. No starting issues ever since I bought the car used 8 years ago. Now, for the second time in about 2 weeks, when I either parked my car or jack up the car with the front end higher than the rear the car refuses to start until several attempts. No sputtering while trying to start, just cranking like it's out of gas.
The first time it happened was 2 Saturdays ago when I was parked on my neighbors very steep driveway. Eventually the car started and I have not had any starting issues until yesterday when I jacked up the front to install new rotors and pads. When I went to start it for a test drive, it just cranked repeatedly without any signs of starting. It literally took about 8 attempts to start and then it roared to life.
Is my fuel pump starting to die or is there something else I need to check? I don't want to end up stranded somewhere if I can fix the problem now. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!
Ted
