Well I replaced my battery (needed a new one anyways), got home, hooked it up and it still wont start. The electrical works fine when I first turn the key, and when I try to turn it over I get one click and the dashboard lights fade. Also, when I hooked up the negative terminal, I got a buzzing noise from the EGR fuse. If I jiggled the cable or the fuse, it would stop. Now I figure it is my starter but i anyone knows anything about the EGR thing let me know,

thanks,micah

If I understand you correctly, I was having the same problem. All I would get to come on were the accessories for a brief second, then nothing. It turned out to just be a bad negative battery cable connection(previous owner had relocated the battery in order to do the "home depot intake"). try redoing all the connections...Oh ****, I just noticed you're from Madison too. We should meet up. Let me know. I could try to help you troubleshoot.P.S. Were you at the Columbus 151 auto-x?

Im thinking it might be the cable. The negative cable is extremely corroded. Heres exactly what happens.

When I get in the car I have electrical power. If I try to start it, I get a click and then I cant get anything until I get out and jiggle the negative battery terminal. Then I can get electrical again.

If I turn the key to get electrical and then turn it off again without starting it, the power in the console stays on, even if I take the key out, and my EGI fusebox starts buzzing and vibrating. This stops if I remove the negative battery terminal.

The EGI box will also buzz when I replace the negative terminal but I can gt it to stop by jiggling the cable a little.

If you know for sure what this is let me know. Thanks a lot for any help.

Havent done any autocross but I would like to sometime. Maybe when I finish school in a year I will have more time for it.

I would replace your corroded negative battery cable, or at least clean up and redo all the connections. I never got the buzzing though, not sure what that is. You going to UW? I'm going to MATC currently...

I had a similar problem and it was because the previous owner converted a side post batter to a top post with those cheap screw in adapters... well I replaced those cheap screw in adapters because they are a lot cheaper than a new battery and I have not had a problem since.
