So I took out my AEM intake and SBD grounding kit, then put in the original intake. When I open my door, immediately the interior lights flicker like crazy for a bit then stops. When I try to start it up, it makes a weird ticking sound (not the kind when your battery is dead). My battery is still good as far as i know, stereo still powers on and play cd's. Possibly some kind of an electrical problem?

The only thing that I can really think of is the MAF sensor went bad or something. As I was swapping intakes, I didnt unplug the MAF, I just unscrewed the 2 screws, pulled out the whole thing and left it sitting around the bay overnight or so before sticking it in the oem intake. Would that possibly be the cause of the problem? The car is parked in the garage so it wasn't exposed to any sunlight.

Any help would be great. I tried searching but couldn't find anything useful.

Your car is a vampire. Try starting it at night.

In all seriousness, does it actually start and then make ticking sounds? Or just make noise and not start? Sounds like you missed a grounding point with the new grounding kit, or they're not making good contact. Clean the contacts on the MAF with alcohol and check tightness of the fitment on the plug.

It just makes noise and doesn't start. I will recheck all the grounding points, or maybe hook up the wire kit again and see what happens. I've heard people say use an eraser to clean off sensors....

Please dont do that with an eraser, you will probably ruin your MAF by doing that. I doubt it is that, a ruined or bad MAF will make an engine run like sh*t, but it wont make it not possible to start the engine. either you disconnected something and didnt reconnect it or you have a bad ground on one of your wires that you put in. A bad ground will mean the part wont work or work poorly.

this happens to me alot when i disconnect my car battery. I fixed the problem by tighten the screws on the battery terminal harder to make better contact. Using a wirebrush to clean the corrosion will help!

I am having a similar issue took the car to a shop to have a kit put on and now the car will not start...they disconnected the battery and left it off for a few days, well about 2 weeks, so the local service shop assumed that the problem was with the key not being read...now the ECU is kicking out a ton of faults and nobody an figure this out...anyone heard of this???

sorry I kind of borrowed your thread on this boss

^^ What exact faults??

- 1. Have you checked the battery level? Is it putting out 11.5/12V when sitting there?

- 2. Have you checked the starter?

- 3. This sounds purely to be an electrical problem.

- 4. Disconnect both terminals. Clean both terminals. Reconnect positive, reconnect negative. Attempt to start car.

- 5. When you press the brake, do the tail lights light up?

"pulled out the whole thing and left it sitting around the bay overnight or so before sticking it in the oem intake." Bad idea. Reason being is dirt and other things can get into this sensor and ruin it. It should always be in the intake behind the filter.

Another thing this could be is a bad relay or fuse as well.

Under the hood there is a fuse panel. Go through the fuses and check them to see if any are burnt.
