Yesterday on my lunch break I go and grab some chicken. I go to leave and my car won't start. But all accessories work. So I figure it's my battery corrosion again. So I'm rushing trying to find my tools and clean it off. Well about 2 hrs before work I was reading about key-less entry etc. And I read about bypassing the clutch sensor. The little button that when you push in your clutch gets pushed in so your car will start. Their safety device. I can't find any threads on how to bypass or my choice of search words isn't that good. My rubber mount on the back of my clutch has fallen apart. So instead of getting a new little piece of rubber or making it work can I just bypass the switch so I don't have to have the clutch in? Isn't when you push it in a connection is established so your car will start? So if I just cut the wires and put them together I would be good correct? If anyone has done this yet or has a link to a page that will help me, it will be appreciated

im unsure if you figured this out to be what the problem was?

if it was then:1. tape some pennies to the back of the pedal or rig up something OR2.cut them and find out. if it doesnt work just fix the wiresOR3. push that button down and tape it down. it will think the clutch is pushed in all the time but it wont hurt anything.

in my 5spd swap the only sensor hooked up right now is the speed sensor. i have to fixe the harness for the reverse lights

yeah you could bypass the switch but that'd be pretty dumb. Its really cheap to replace and usually its the wiring or the little plug that goes bad on them.

Why would it be dumb to bypass it? So if I do just splice the wires I'm good right? Hate t keep leaning to push that button.

You should be able to reach the button while in the drivers seat if your familiar w/ its location, push it in and turn the key...just make SURE its in neutral since you cannot push the clutch in and hit the button w/ your finger. Thatll get you home anyhow.

Now for the fix, an 8MM or 10MM bolt, I cant remember which is the perfect size for the hole. Get a short bolt and nut, insert the bolt from the button side so the bolt head is what pushes the button in and zip on the nut. Fixed. I had to do this to mine, and had to do the same to the brake switch, THAT was a PITA to get on due to its location.

I've been able to lean and push it prettygood now. Thinking about maybe leaving it as a security device
