car won't start

car died out and towed it home. when i try to start it act like it's not getting fuel almost as if its starving for fuel. checked the fuel pump and was not working so i replaced it but still won't start up. don't know what to do now.

wires were crossed on fuel pump so now it starts up and is running fine
