So I've been told my infiniti won't start its a 1990 Q45a and theres been a humming sound in the back I think it sounds more like the HVAC than the fuel pump, but I could be wrong. I've been told its the fuel pump, how do I ground the FPCU? I'm not even sure the 1990 model has one. Any advise appreciated I have searched the forum.

Are you sure you bought the right car for yourself?

Welcome to NICO

Edit: look in pages EF & EC-218 and EF & EC-219

Or just ground the bottom right pin.

Q45.org picture hosting has been down lately so the pic I usually post showing how to ground the fuel pump (not the FPCU) is not available. Email me and I'll send it to you.

You do have both units in your Q. The FPCU is mounted under the rear deck. You can get a glimpse of it through the trunk mounted next to the right side speaker. It may be left side on the JDM Q's. The fuel pump is inside the gas tank and its wires come out through the top of the tank. Pull out the trunk liner to get a good look at both.

Follow the wires from the fuel pump to the FPCU and disconnect it. Any burning or scorching on the connector or FPCU connection? With the pins of the connector looking at you and the clip up you need to run a jumper from the lower left pin to ground. If your engine starts its the FPCU gone bad. You'll need to replace the pump also.

Jiggled the FPCU cable? Battery cable? Afraid of what you might find if you unplug the FPCU?

The problems will return. Don't let yourself get stranded.
