car won't start =(!!!

So since the car smelled like gas...i thought i would tighten the fuel lines as recomended by someone. After that i started the car to see if it still did smell like gas and it does. I left the car on and RIGHT when i dropped the hood onto the car to close it the car shut off.

Me thinkin that was wierd i went back to start it and it won't start now ...

Did i tighten the fuel lines to much?

THINGS THAT MIGHT APPLY:Well there is a power steering leak and its gettin on the alternator... This happened last time and i jump started it and it worked fine. But idk if the battery is dead because the raidio and my head lights turn on just fine. Maybe its not enough power to start the motor?

Any suggestions?
