Car has been running normal...Yesterday I drove over speed bumps pretty harsh in a parking lot (I'm talking 12-15mph..came out of know where). Got off to take care of some business and when I got back in the car it would not start, just clicked. I checked the battery and terminals but no luck. I think I knocked something loose under the car that is linked to the starting system or maybe even a fuse. Had to have car towed to local dealer and will have to see what they say on Monday. Any suggestions on what it may be?

Sounds pretty darn unusual ...

What model year and how old is the battery?

Forgot to mention..its an 03 Y34. I could not figure out what happened.. It sounded liked a bad ignition solenoid but could not figure out if the car came with one and the engine bay is too tight to look around. I looked at the service manuels on this board and the schematics did not show a solenoid, maybe i missed it.

Are you positive it is not the battery? Did you try a jump? My battery just quit one day. Very common in the hot summer too.

The clicking normally indicates bad car battery. Check to see if it's the original oem battery to determine how old the battery is. These batteries are only good for 4 years if you are lucky, especially in this southwest heat like NMGood said. Also, change your key fob battery.

I've heard the dreaded clicking and the displays go haywire twice already. Each time it was a discharged battery. After the second discharge, I recharged it again and got a super duper Sears Platinum AGM battery. The OEM battery lasted about 3 years.

Sometimes, the battery may look good with a simple voltmeter, but simply does not have the current capability to start the car.

I would strongly suggest replacing the battery (particularly if it is more than 3 or 4 years old) ... I think this will fix your problem.

Dealer said it is a bad starter. I think this is the first time I have heard of these cars having a starter problem... $600 job cause starter cost is over $400...Oh well..

Hmmm ... okay, but I will still ask: how old is your battery?

If it is 3 to 4 years old, try jumping the car first with another battery and see if that work. It may well be that the battery is toast, rather than the starter!
