Veen messing with these engine for a while now. Right now I'm stumped. Engine is rebuilt arias 8.8 and crower v2 cams. Had valve job done as well. Identical set-up in the car as it was before the HG went bad...What stupid little thing am I ignoring/overlooking. Got spark got fuel and got air. Tried to set timing for 2 hours. Only got it to cough twice..... Sounds like it's out of time..... My cams have been off before but still had been able to start it... And my builder has built 3 of this engine in the past month and is current bulding a 11.0 motor for his 240. So he knows what the is doing with the engine...Any ideas at all? Going to swap distributors and cap tomorrow, then maybe go back to stock ecu and injectors.Fuel in the car is only 2months old and smells fine....

Make sure your dizzy is in right, im assuming you have alot of experience with the KA so you should know how to do it.

Get a ignition bypass that connects to your battery directly to your starter and uses a switch to turn your car over. Im not exactly sure what they are called, but you get the idea. They are cheap, and you should be able to get them from most auto stores. With that, and a timing light see where your ignition timing is. While cranking your car rotate your dizzy around till its where it needs to be.

If it still wont fire, you probably dont have your cams in right.

Dizzy is dead on. Even second guessed my self and moved it one tooth off both directions and 180. Been messing with the dizzy for over an hour. Has to be the cams...

who did the assembly of the motor? does it spin freely? have you already dumped the motor into the car and also filled it with fluids? Was this built from the same head/block the hg went bad?

you can probably already guess that I'm gonna suggest reviewing the installation of the chains...Although unless the chain is a good amount off, it should still be able to start, although probably not idle well.

Think it's timing chain error. Going to pull the cover off and see....

Pulled the valve cover off. The cams were off. But it still won't start.
