Two days ago I bought a 2001 QX4. Next morning the car wouldn't start. The starter engaged but, for an hour, the car would not start. Finally, after I went to work my wife got it started. I noticed the red security light flashing as I was trying to start it. Is that normal or does it indicate a problem with the security system? Is there maybe a fuel cutoff in the security system? I didn't think that was likely but a friend of mine said many security systems use a fuel cutoff switch or relay. I assume it has the standard security system.

That is a possibility, did you try to start the QX with copy of the key that doesn't have a programed transponder? That is usually what happens if you make several attempts with an unauthorized key, or one without a transponder.

Welcome to NICO. I hope we can help you with questions you have about your new car.
