Sup guys,

Im new to this forum but always post on other 240 forums. Recently I swapped out my radiator. After I was done, I took it for a spin and everything seemed okay until I pulled into the gas station to fill-up. It was bogging out and wanted to cut off. I turned off the engine and filled up, adding some injector cleaner too. Started her up and she ran fine until I got home.

When I got home, I fooled around with the front harness near the injectors and the coolant sensor. The car then shuts off and when I attempted to start it, it wouldn't. I would just hear ONE click noise and that's it. It doesn't turnover or crank. I swapped out the battery and that wasn't the problem. I also tried to push start the thing and nothing. I need a car for school right now and I can't afford to tow it to a mechanic right now. Can someone help me bring back my 240 to life? Thanks a bunch, Alex...:help

more info !! what year ? sohc or dohc? if its single over head cam and you are reffering to the harness that runs along the valve cover check your main fuses. if you find one blown check the harness along the valve cover at the rear of the cover right where it bends down near the number 4 injector. under the harness is a 10mm head bolt. see if the conduit has rubbed through and the main wire has shorted to that 10mm bolt.

it's a 1990 sohc sorry guys,

with the harness, the previous owner had the plug near the fan dropped into the fan and somehow they ghetto rigged it to work again. i was wiggling it and the coolant sensor and all of sudden the car just shut off....i tried changing batteries, reset ecu, pushstart, but the car doesnt budge. all it gives is one click noise, no crank when i try to start.

where does the click seem to be coming from? interior or engine bay? are any of the dash lights still illuminated after the click?

check your connections on the battery cables at both ends especially the ground.

check the group of ground wires attached to the front of the intake manifold.are they secure?

yea, all the grounds were good except for the one near the coolant sensor...it got a little loose and that may be the reason why it shut off...i banged it tight again but car still doesnt start. The click is coming from the engine bay, i believe the starter, because i hear it near the oil filter....all dash lights still illuminated but just when i turn the key to start, the clock on the cluster dim but when i stop trying to start it, it goes back to normal...thanks nistech for helping me, i feel more relieved...

have someone sit in the car and hold the ignition in the start position while you take a hammer or tire iron and smack your starter. if it starts you have a bad starter.
