hey guys, the 240 has a problem. it cranks but won't start. if i put my foot down on the gas pedal and crank for awhile it'll start but will go to about 400~rpm and drop to 0 fast. i searched and found it may be flooded?

what happened before was the car kept shaking hard. it starts and runs but it shakes really hard i searched the forum to find out if the injectors are going by pulling each spark plug wire 1 by 1 and found the 4th wire didn't make a difference. so i took an injector off of my parts car and swapped it into this car. now ever since that swap the car just won't start.

one thing i did notice, when i pulled the spark plug wires there was water around it. and the car was washed/degreased but i did not see any water in the distributor cap.

it went from running to running shakey to not running at all this car was just bought a couple months ago and wasnt even driven more than once or twice. was waiting for smog/registration and this happened. if any of you guys know any leads or solutions to the problem let me know thank you

Had a similar problem but the car would run just very poorly. What I found that when i washed my engine off water had gotten down around one of the spark plugs by the wire seal on the valve cover. The water "shorts" the spark out... doesn't allow the spark make it to the spark plug. Systoms are poorly running car (running on 3 cylinder or less)

What I did to solve this was to stick some paper towels down where the spark plug wire goes to absorb the water best I could. I did this several times and dried out the spark plug wire and put it back together and had no more problems.

When you get it running and get the car up to temp shut the car off and pull the spark plug wires and let the heat of the motor finish drying out the spark plug holes.

good luck.

I had close to the same problem..

What I did was checked the spark plugs (burnt badly, but still good, still replaced them)

Took the plugs off of the injectors (There is a staple type thing holding it down, pry it off with a flat screwdriver, then use needlenose to make sure it doesnt fall DO NOT FORCE IT)

Clean the corrosion off the plugs (Disconnect battery, it is safer, but probably not required..)Sprayed stuff from radio shack into each plug and got the gunk off..

Then I got it to crank every now and again, by pumping the gas pedal it would start for a few seconds then I could stabalize the rev at 1500RPM (wouldnt go above 2500) with a cane.. :-)

Anyway while it was started I unplugged each of the wires, one by one (replace it after you take it off) and noticed with each one the engine would stutter showing me that the injectors and plugs were working..

After being stuck at this part for several hours I did a search for REV and 2500 and found it could be the ECS or the MAF (Mass AirFlow sensor)

On my car, the plug is ontop of the Airfilter thing in a silver thing.. Engine was off, I fiddled with that, and it cranked right up

Not sure if this will help, but it might.. Check the easy stuff, and do you have a FSM?
