4th Gen 1999 Maxima SE. Just changed clutch and installed Quaife ATB Differential. Was on jackstands for about a month or so. Now it's back on her feet and when I start her up, it takes quite a bit of cranking before she gets running. Is the fuel bad? She starts up after a few attempts, and this was never a problem before...I even put a few gallons of fresh fuel in and no better. Some guys are tyalking about sanding the bellhousing/starter surfaces, or the starter problem might surface...any insight?

Maybe the crank shaft sensor on the transmission. I did a clutch job and i forgot to plug that in and all it did was turn over. I think mine is bad as we speak. it takes a good 5 to 10 cranks sometimes to start. i just havent had the money to go replace yet

Thats one of the biggest issues with 4th gens man. If you dont sand that surface it causes alot of issues. Its a ground and if its not grounding then you will have more resistance for other items as well.

I would check the timing too

Check camshaft and crankshaft position sensors

Check for basics, fuel, spark, air

Check your battery connectors. The battery may be good but corrosion on the connectors will reduce the 'juice' going to your starter. It's also possible that you have a 'sticky' starter. It's not difficult to remove. Disassemble the starter and put lithium grease on the gears. You can also check the integrity of the connection to the starter solenoid.
