I was just driving down the street then I started losing power and hearing a weird scraping noise. Then the cars engine just died.

So I pulled codes and got code 11, went to check out the timing belt and it looks fine. I took out the CAS then rotated it by hand and I could hear all the injectors clicking.

I'm stumped, is the CAS bad even though the injectors were clicking?

MUCH HELP APPERICIATED

the cas has 2 sensors and 2 signal wires that go out, one triggers the injectors the other triggers the coilpacks

Ok so whaht do you think the problem is, I'm hoping it's CAS cause I got a code 11, somtimes the car will start and run for one second then immediately die.

I rotated the cas manually and the ijectors click and stuff. So fuel is good.

Someone said if the injectors fire manually the CAS is good but im like why would I get code 11, the connections are clean too.

You can actually take your CAS apart a bit, and in doing so, sometimes you can shake out debris. My CAS was goofed up, but for some reason, the car would run absolutely fine once started. It was on a hot start that the car would fail to start properly.

You unscrew a few screws holding each half together and it should come apart. You don't actually remove the spinning disc, but you'd be able shake debris out of it.

I took photos of my "operation" a while back.I never did attempt to use it again because I had already bought a brand new one. I could tell the ball bearing wasn't extremely smooth, but who knows what my issue was.

Oh go figure, you have the newer model CAS lol.

Well how did the car act when it went? My car won't even crank over 90% of the time. I was just driving along then boom the car went out and the check engine light came on.

So yeah I'm hoping my CAS is bad and my engine didn't jump timing or anything like that. But I checked the belt and it still looks to be intact. This sucks, my car isn't even at my house, it's siting at some church.

Well I've tested for SPark and I get spark and I get fuel if I manually turn the CAS. The very first time the car will crank over and run for 1 second, no kidding, then it will die.

Then the second time it's even harder to crank over but it does and it runs for 1 second. When this first happened the car was hot and it didn't want to do anything but click. CEL came on and got a code 11.

I checked for fuel pressure and it's good. The car will start and then die after like 1 sec. I'm about to install a new CAS today and see what happens.

I know you are getting Code 11, but do you have the first gen of the PTU? If it's silver and ribbed looking, you may want to test it as the old ones where prone to failure. When my brother's went it would sometimes run for a bit and then die until one day when it wouldn't start the engine at all until we replaced it with the new style.

Mine is black and plastic so I'm assuming that's the new style?

if you are still gettting a code 121 and the timing belt is turnign I'd start by replacing the cas, to do anything else is illogical

What thread does this continue in? I'm having the exact same problem and can't figure it out.
