Hey guys,
The Z has had some trouble starting recently. I woke up one day to go to work and turned the key and tried starting the car and it would crank but no start. Tried again and it started and stayed on for a bit then it shut off. My co worker told me it may be a clogged fuel filter. Went to replace the fuel filter and it started up right away. I let the car sit there letting the fuel go through the new filter. It worked the whole next day, took me to work and did errands and started fine until I was starting to leave to go home. I started the Z and started driving off then while slowing down to a stop, the car shuts off. Tried turning it on again and same problem cranks but no start. A couple min later it started again and took me home completely fine. Woke up the next day to check on it if it was ok and now the Z won't start. Don't know what else may be the problem. I replaced the fuel filter right I think? Took off the fuel pump fuse and turned the car on to de-pressurize the line and then repalced the filter and put the fuse back on and started it and let it sit for 10min and it was fine.

Welcome!
First off, your procedure sounds fine so don't worry there.
The Z32 suffers from a couple of problems of which temperature and mostly humidity changes will cause corrosion issues with certain engine control connectors to pop up. You may well be having an issue with your IAACV connectors, or others like the injector connectors and also the PTU harness (my main suspect). Other connectors can also be corroded so if you do a corrosion clean of you bay, do the CTS (both), PTU harness (both), CAS, IACV, and injectors. Testing the injectors for their ohm resistance is a good idea with pre-'94 Z's to ensure they are working correctly as they fail often from ethanol and electrolysis.
You can find help in the online service manual located in the "everything you need to know....Z32" sticky for most other areas of concern, including some troubleshooting help.
Good Luck!
