car won't start - any ideas? (with sound)

Full disclosure – I am not a car person.

I have a 2009 Nissan Versa SL with approximately 26K miles on it. This morning I went out to start my car to warm it up (35 degrees outside) and it wouldn’t start. The first time I tried, it groaned a little. The second time, it groaned less. And the third and fourth time it just started buzzing. The engine never did turn over. My husband recorded the sound the engine was making when we attempted to start it the fourth time and I’ve posted a link to it here:

All of the electrical works. I just got it serviced and inspected in November so the oil and other fluids are fresh. Any ideas?

the sounds look the alternator doesnt crank,
i would check the battery first and retight it,
if still not works i would recharge it

You don't need the alternator to start the engine. The alternator provides electrical power once the engine is turning.


Sounds like the starter motor is running, but there's no ignition. Could be fuel, could be electrical sparkplug issue.
