I followed the write up and did what it was stated but my car won't start. I set everything to TDC, with the cams facing away form each other. I did sprayed a good amount of WD-40 into the tensioners to loosen them up. Would that result in the car cranking but won't start? My car is a 1996 240sx. Thank you

Validate spark plug wires are in the correct firing order? Is timing set properly?

Yes the plug wires are in correct firing order. The timing should be right because I followed the write up and made sure it's at TDC. Should I change the oil with the good amount of WD-40 in it?

well... yes, but that isn't going to be the reason for it not starting

go back through the process step by step and double check the timing is correct... setting it at TDC isn't necessarily making sure the timing is set properly

If all you did was remove the timing guides, then there is no reason that the timing should have been messed with. Did you mess with the timing? If you did then i would say its off. If you pulled the distributor then i would say you installed it a tooth off or so. That one should be an easy fix.

Could be 180 degrees out dependent on which stroke sequence the #1 piston was at when timing was set.
