I've been working on putting a turbo on my 240 and I'm almost done.... I was a lazy ***** and tried to put the oil return on the pan when it was still on the car... bad idea. After grinding, welding, jb welding, and still having a huge oil leak, i realized i needed to take the pan off. To lay a better bead, i towed the car to my school auto shop.. good welders there as opposed to fluxcore. but that didn't work either, but i needed to get the car home somehow. because my safc settings were screwed up- i think -, the car limped the 2 miles from school to my house. Right before getting home the car died and there was smoke coming out of the hood... ****.... I popped the hood and half the hood was on fire. It turns out the o2 sensor was too high up and it caught it. A kind passerby fire extinguishered my car, but another person still felt the need to call the fire dept. When it was all said and done, my hood insulation was burnt off but not really any engine burn problems, i dont think. no wires or anything got burned. The problem is that the reason i stopped and saw the fire was because the car died. I've changed the oil pan with one that doesn't leak, but now my car won't start! it has spark, and it is turning over... and occasionally it sounds like it's gonna catch, but it doesn't. I'm stumped at what could be the problem? One thought I had was that the spark plugs could be ****ed, but all 4? Any ideas?

Also, replace all of your rubber. Hoses, fuel lines, etc.

Well it was probably a short that caused the fire. Check your fuses again

Check to see if you got fuel and spark. Because I'm sure your getting air. Most likel one of your sprak wires/fuel injector wires is burnt. Forget visual inspection.Check to see if they work.

Pull the plugs and check them, see how they look. Since the car died on the way back home from "screwed up S-AFC settings" this could very well be the cause.

If not, atleast you will be able to cross out one of the possibilites.

I had a feeling this would happen in my case after I turboed my motor, so I pulled the insulation off before even cranking the motor over.

To anyone who hasn't done this yet, go out and do it now.

Looks like or sounds like your motor is fluded, take out he plugs, clean them very good, now unplug your dist.. and take out all four plugs and wires, unplug the fuel or take out the fuse its right next to the battery it should be a 15A, put a rag over the pistons(over the where the plugs go) have someone hold the rag in place and turn the ignition over, leave i over for abour 5-7 seconds, let all the gas from the piston up. I had this same problem from what it sounds like. Please make SURE you unplug the dist.. even to be safe which i do is unplud the coil.

Or you could replace the plugs. No offense, S13, but no one cleans plugs anymore. But the rest is dead on.
