Heres the jist of it all. i was coming home from a place and and pulled up to the light slowed down and shifted in to first to get ready to drive foward but i heard some small grinding and then when i got it into first gear it wouldn't move foward anymore.

well it does in fact move foward if its in first gear if i let off the clutch entierly it doesn't stal it moves foward at alike a 2-3 mph pace same for reverse. if i move it into any other gear 2-5 it just sits there. I press down on gass pedal and goes no where.

I had my clutch replaced probably not less then a year ago like 9 months or so ago. i asked a few shops and they basically wanna drop the transmission and fiddle around to see what comes up and i really can't afford the labor for mechanical exploriatory fiddling.

so my question is what can i do, or what is the problem or is it just worth buying a new car if my cars only worth 2500 and its gonna come to a couple thousand for the transmission if it in fact is.

any thoughts woudl eb greatly apprecited thank you in advance.

Sounds like you have dropped some gears in your transmission or trashed the clutch. Since you can get moving in 1st and reverse, it does not sound like a linkage problem. Unless NISTECH can think of anything else, I'd say dropping the transmission would be the first step.

Matt is right. If they charge you to pull the transmission and when they get it out they see the clutch is blown out they are just gonna charge you for the removing the trans and reinstaling it. Which was what they did. In other words the estimate they give you should include the time to remove the trans and look at the clutch and to reinstall it to its state it was when you brought it to them. Ask to be sure the price they quote you is to R&R the trans. If so they should not be charging you any additional except the clutch kit. Now on the other end of things, If they get the trans out and find the clutch is ok, then they will need to tear down the trans and inspect it. so that would be additional time.
