Just installed my Koyo and my Black Magic fan and now my car won't shut off... grr.

I don't know if it's because of the fan or if my wiring got messed up when I was working on it.

Heres the deal. With my old fan and radiator, the fan had 2 wires, + and -, that's it. So I used a Radio Shack ignition relay so that it would run when the car was running. That relay had +12in, +12out, ignition in and ground out.

Now, with the black magic, the ignition relay is built-in. So, I hooked up +12, +12 with a circuit breaker, ground and ignition (or switched).

Now my car starts and runs beautifully, extra now with that weight off the water pump, but now it won't shut off.

HELP!

New trend, the ultimate turbo timer, just park it at the gas pump.

I don't know much abou the built in relay that is on the fan, but maybe you could try bypassing it...its just an idea...

Seriously, I'd recheck everything thats ignition related. It sounds like there is a 12+ constant going to a wire that should be ignition only. It is possible that something is wrong inside the relay, so the first thing I'd try is unhooking the fan wiring and see if that solves the problem. If it does, the problem is somewhere in that area, (perhaps a crossed wire or something got hooked up wrong). If not, then you just have to check EVERYTHING that you touched on the car recently.

Hey Bud , try disconnecting the battery, and then reconect it. Then look to see if anythin in your car (mainly you dash lights or anything like that) is on. If that dosent work take all the wiring out and redo it. By the way where did you tap in for power.

It sounds as though you have looped the power on the ignition so no matter what you do with the key it stays running. You have a power wire thats bypassing the ignition and running direct. Hot wire class 101. I give you an A+. So your not using both relays are you? this is a real simple fix. What switched power source are you using? give an exact run down from start to finish what wire is coming from where and going where. We should be able to figure it out. Actually if you stair at it real hard with a beer in your hand you should be able to figure it out.......thats how I fix s*** anyways.....:D

For the fan, I plugged in 4 wires

Ground goes to chassis+12 direct+12 with breaker both come straight from the batteryIgnition

For ignition, I had one of the phase2 guys get me an ignition wire from the fuel pump relay. And that worked fine for my old setup. Now it doesn't work at all.

Dunno.

One of the phase2 guys is coming up right now, and I think I am going to get a battery relocation kit, if I can find one today.

Does the "+12 direct" go to the fan motor or adj. thermostat? It sounds like it should be the source of power for the fan.

The adjustable thermostat is all contained in one unit with all the power and ground connections. It doesn't have any seperate connections.

If you unhook the thermostat wiring will the car shut off, I've never seen you ask this question. There is ALWAYS the remote chance that there is something internally wrong with the the relay/thermostat and it's crossing a 12+ to the ignition.

When in doubt, undo the last thing you did and see if that fixes the problem, in this case it means, unhooking the wires to the fan.

Oh yeah, I forgot. I know everything. I hearby retract my question.

The world isn't coming to anything. If you had something intelligent to say however, that might be a ground shaking event.
