I recently did an auto to manual swap on my '96 240sx. After removing the auto transmission and everything, I installed and torque the flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate. I installed the manual transmission, hooked up the hardness, and bleed the clutch like I'm supposed to. On the first time, my car started up fine and I was able to drive it. I drove it to work then back and it ran fine. That same day after work I drove it for a few miles then my car just suddenly died on me. I thought it the battery and my starter was dead so I replaced them. But after I had them, I drove it for two miles and then it feels like my clutch was slipping or the gears are not engaging. As I try to put it in gear and step on the gas my car was at a stand still and won't move. I had the car towed home, jacked it up, removed the transmission and recheck everything over and over but I still couldn't fine anything. The car still starts up fine but still won't move.

Does anyone have a clue what could be causing the problems? I've checked and checked but I've ran out of clues.

So it dies when you put it in gear or just spins freely? if you leave the clutch out and push the shifter into gear does it grind? Did you check the transmission fluid or change it? It sounds to me like a clutch problem, but a little more info would help.

When I put it in gear and take my foot off the clutch the car doesn't die. I tried putting it in gear and step on the gas but nothing happen; the engine only rev. The gears doesn't grind when I leave the clutch out and shifting it. Instead it just slide into gear with no problem, which is weird. The transmission fluids are new. I do think it might be the clutch too but I removed it and reinstalled it twice already but still have the same problem.

I'm stumped. The only things i can think of are shift linkage and clutch. Good luck.
